GameGuard working on Windows 7 European Aion Beta Access (Fix for Error: 0)

Did some digging because my stupid do nothing game guard client for Aion would just crash with error message 0 a few seconds after starting. Deleting the GameGuard folder does not seem to matter.

Apparently you can use the .des files from the Chinese version over top of yours and it works fine.

Found the solution at the bottom of this thread.

But, because you don’t need to go chasing links… here’s the .des file in the form of a .rar as linked on the forums (no registration required to download for this site!).

Open up this folder for 64bit:
C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Aion\bin32
For 32bit, AION will just BSOD in Win7 right now, I’m assuming this is going to be fixed by Aion later.

Then rename GameGuard.des to GameGuard.bullshit and copy in the one from the rar supplied here. Presto, it works! You’re Welcome!

If you appreciate, please drop a comment thanks!
Oh.. and if you can’t extract it, download winrar from www.rarlabs.com

Woh thanks a lot you saved my day. I was starting to get mad with this shitty gameguard

  2. 2 Stewart

Thanks for the link! I hope this works with the NA Aion client (for this weekends closed beta). =)

This fix ain’t working for, tried korean file and one here.

    Kex,
Are you running Windows 32bit? It’s possible that Aion doesn’t work on 32bit just like the Chinese version didn’t.

  5. 5 kex

    Im running 64bit.

I played the korean/chinese beta, worked flawless.

Are you sure you’re getting Error: 0 when it tries to load gameguard? Are you sure you replaced the .des file correctly?

  7. 7 gwharl

Ok for me but afterthat when i run the aion client, i have an error : “AionClient has stopped working” have you a solution for that ?

    32bit or 64bit?

32bit normally bluescreens. If it has stopped working, try running it in compatability mode or as administrator… disable any AV you have and make sure you’re running the free Windows 7 RC1 build 7100 and not a previous build

32bit i have no BSOD, i test it in admin that doesn’t work :/ I have a second error “Spooler Sub System APP” but the spooler is for printer ><
I have disable my AV but i havent check the build of windows

  10. 10 gwharl

Build 6956 ffs…I search an update for this but that make a bsod after if i’ve understand :/

  11. 11 Eric Greer

Upgrade to Windows 7 x64 if your processor will do it. That requires a full reinstall, but it works!

  12. 12 DeX

    You sir, are a legend!

Works perfect on my Win 7 64 \o/

    Thank you!

  13. 13 Inada

TY, you saved my day :)

  14. 14 Yfel

Awesome, it works! Thanks, I was afraid I’d have to forfeit my beta spot.

  15. 15 Profesie

Thank you so much. I’m getting ready to log in, for the beta event and couldn’t get past the loading splash screen. This worked perfectly!

  16. 16 Crewe

    Thanks for this!

Aion will run on windows 7 32 bit. The problem is strictly from shitty ass game guard. Sorry for those guys that are running 64 bit just to try out Aion. The thing is that game guard file you guys used is a working file for 64bit and they just don’t have a 32bit. See a screen shot here http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/8291/aion32bitp.jpg

Personally it makes me very upset that anti cheat is more important to the creators of Aion then the ease of use itself. What we had to do to make this work is very sad. They better just get rid of game guard and focus on the game. If any of you have tried to launch the game you will notice the font error that happens a lot and the game crashes, this happens because of another anti cheat.

Well big pat on the back to the creators of game guard for ruining the game for windows7 users. They better come up with something because w7 is a bad ass OS by far the best windows to date. I even run it on old machines flawlessly.

    Hi :)

I am a total chick noob at computer files and such…but I think I have followed your directions about renaming the .des to .bullshit and copying the .rar but I still get the stupid game guard error. Is there any chance one of you might walk me through this? I have played L2 for over 4 years and not had much gameguard trouble.

    Thanks so much

  21. 21 heejeong

    @Airninja6r,

so do you mean Aion will run on windows 7 32bit after replacing the gdme guard file with that of 64bit?

  22. 22 Airninja6r

Nope like i said in my post it took alot to get aion to work. Pretty much had to hack game guard.

  23. 23 Eric Greer

did you extract the .rar with winrar first?

You should put the .des files, which come out of the rar file, into the old place of the .bullshit file.

rar files work like zip files. download winrar from http://www.rarlabs.com

  24. 24 Clay

    Thank you so much.

I literally banged my head in the desk in frustration. W7-64bit has worked with everything I’ve thrown at it so far. This was my first error to come up.

So far I have to wait till 12pm until I get to actually play the beta but I atleast got to start the game without problems now.

    Thanks a million.

  25. 25 Zortiander

@Ahora: do not copy the rar, copy the content of the rar folder to the folder the original poster described. The rar is basically just a package for the file inside.

  26. 26 Brian

    Works perfectly, thanks

  27. 27 twincannon

You are an amazing person. Thanks for this!

  28. 28 Solvo

    Hi all u AION player

Airninja6r, u posted a screenshot showing AION working on win7 32bit, how did u do that? I had the problem with the GameGuard, solved that wit the help of this threat, but how can i get past that bluescreen now?

  29. 29 The Salton Sea

    Thanks , it works on win 7 x64 7201 :)

  30. 30 greg

thank you so much for this, got me past the gameguard error. was surprised i was getting an error afterwards which no one else mentioned, so i assume its easy to get around and im just dumb. says aion doesn’t support this version of direct x and tells me to dl version 9, anyone have a fix?

  31. 31 snappeeth

I tried 5 hrs yesterday to get this to work on build 7100 win7 using suggestions above. One person mentioned this above, but here is the link for what fixed my problem on 64 bit win 7http://forgottenportal.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=54&task=view.download&cid=81

  32. 32 Vince

Thanks Eric, it worked on my W7 64, cheers !

  33. 33 josh

Just dropping my appreciation here – thanks for this fix, works perfectly.

  34. 34 Ash

Thanks for this fix, it works perfectly.

  35. 35 brad

    yay thanks

  36. 36 steven

Airninja6r how about giving us that hack… at least let us temp fix it

  37. 37 Nickl

The fix works fine for playing with existing characters, but I still get BSOD during character creation on Win7 x64.

  38. 38 Tiven

    Thanks buddy! worked for me.

  39. 39 MadSpin

Thanks Man! I got Aion™ to bootup into the login screen. I had to ultimately uninstall Kasperkey AntiVirus too (simply turning it off didn’t work).
